Last week I made my college football picks on Twitter. For the rest of the season I will took at all the games involving top 25 teams and other games I have an opinion on. I will organize my picks in three categories.
“Confident picks” will be the games I have a strong opinion on.
“Leaning towards picks” will be the games I would pick but not as confident.
“No action” are top 25 games where I have no opinion on.
Last week I was 4-3 in my confident picks and 3-2 in my leaning towards picks.
This week I am not picking games that involve a top 25 team against a FCS opponent. Here are my week 2 picks:
Confident picks
No. 3 Ohio State -28 over San Diego State
Ohio State struggled against Buffalo in Week 1. Urban Meyer will make sure his team plays better in Week 2. San Diego State lost to Eastern Illinois by 21 last week.
No. 11 Georgia -3.5 over No. 6 South Carolina
This is a classic bounce back game situation for Georgia, who lost on the road to Clemson last week. South Carolina won by 17 last week, but most of their offense was on two big plays. Love Georgia this week.
No. 12 Florida -3 over Miami
This line seems low. I went against Florida this week but like them this week.
BYU +7 over No. 15 Texas
It took Texas awhile to get going against New Mexico State. BYU might not win, but will cover.
Cincinnati -8 over Illinois
Illinois gave up 34 points to Southern Illinois! Cincy rolled over Purdue in Week 1.
Western Kentucky +13 over Tennessee
Tennessee will just be looking to win. They play at Oregon and Florida in Week 3 and 4.
Ohio -4.5 over North Texas
This line is low because of overreaction to North Texas’ win and Ohio’s loss in Week 1.
Leaning towards picks
No. 2 Oregon -23 over Virginia
Coach Chip Kelly is gone but the Ducks will still score early and often.
No. 13 Oklahoma State -27 over Texas San Antonio
Oklahoma State only scored 21 points last week and covered. Maybe there defense will be strong this season, or Mississippi State will be very bad.
No. 17 Michigan -4 over No. 14 Notre Dame
I would be very confident on Michigan if this line was three. The drop off from Everett Golson to Tommy Rees at quarterback will hurt Notre Dame this year.
No. 16 Oklahoma -21 over West Virginia
It’s too early in the season for the classic Bob Stoops losing to a bad team at home. Also West Virginia will be battling for eighth place with Iowa State this year.
Washington State +15.5 over No. 25 USC
Won’t hesitate much this season picking against Lane Kiffin this season
No action
No. 5 Stanford -25.5 vs. San Jose State
A lot of people love Stanford this year. They open the season against San Jose State, who has a new coach.
No. 9 LSU -35 vs. UAB
This is a big line so I’m staying away.
No. 19 Northwestern -16.5 vs. Syracuse
I’m really down on Syracuse this season but this line seems high
No. 22 Nebraska -28 vs. Southern Mississippi
Nebraska barley held off Wyoming and Southern Mississippi lost to Texas State in Week 1.
No. 23 Baylor -27.5 vs. Buffalo
Baylor won their glorified scrimmage against Wofford 69-3. Was thinking of Buffalo but no action here.
I think Georgia will win, but by less than 3.5 points. Other than that, I think your picks are solid.
