Giants (+3.5) over Saints
Cowboys (+6) over Seahawks
Broncos (+3) over Packers
North Carolina State (+10) over Clemson
Auburn (+7.5) over Ole Miss
Texas Tech (+3) over Oklahoma State
Kentucky (+8.5) over Tennessee
This is my strongest opinion of the week as long as Ben Roethlisberger plays. The quarterback is expected to start after missing the last four games in a knee injury. Pittsburgh went 2-2 in that span with wins against the Chargers and Cardinals. Running back Le’Veon Bell, and wide receivers Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant have stepped up for the Steelers offense. The Steelers defense has always had impressive showings and seem to be improving as the year goes on.
The Bengals are 6-0 and coming off a bye. A lot of people are impressed with the team so far but I think this a week where the offense can be slowed down. Having a bye may have not been beneficial for this team who were really clicking on offense.
The Steelers need to win this game if they have any chance at the division. I think they should be the favorite in this game so I’ll take them at a pick ’em price.
Pick: Steelers (pick ’em) over Bengals
Have a few games circled this week but wanted to lock this pick in before I the line moves. I like the Falcons to return home and cover a seven-point spread against the Buccaneers on Sunday. The Falcons are coming off an ugly 10-7 win over the Titans. Atlanta had several chances to cover the spread in that game but failed to do so. I think this week is a great chance for their offense to get on track.
The Buccaneers blew a 24-point lead to the Redskins on Sunday. I think they will have trouble bouncing back after such a heartbreaking loss. In this game game last year in Atlanta, the Falcons jumped out to a 56-0 lead over the Buccaneers before winning 56-14. I don’t think Atlanta will win by that margin but I can see a comfortable win for the home side.
Pick: Falcons (-7) over Buccaneers
Boston Celtics under 44.5 wins (even)
Dallas Mavericks under 37.5 wins (-115)
Detroit Pistons over 36.5 wins (-130)
Miami Heat under 47.5 (-130)
Milwaukee Bucks under 45 wins (-125)
Will add more picks later. Waiting to see where the lines end up in the Falcons-Titans and Steelers-Chiefs game. Here is what I like so far in the NFL.
Under 52 in Saints vs Colts
Giants (-4) over Cowboys
Over 48 in Ravens vs Cardinals
Chiefs (-2.5) over Steelers
Eagles (+3) over Panthers
Indiana (+16.5) over Michigan State: Michigan State is coming off a huge win over Michigan. Traditional letdown spot here and Indiana has an above average offense with Nate Sudfeld under center. Michigan State is 1-6 against the spread with their only cover coming last week as underdogs.
USC (-3.5) over Utah: The 3-3 unranked team is favorite over the undefeated No. 3 team in the country. There’s usually a reason for that and I’ll side with the more talented USC team.
Arkansas (-6.5) over Auburn: Arkansas is coming off a bye and Auburn isn’t very good on either side of the ball. I think the Razorbacks will be prepared and have a big day running the ball.
Sticking with those three picks for now. I will tweet out added picks between now and Saturday.
Won’t be making picks on the site for Week 7 of college football and Week 6 of the NFL. Look at my Twitter timeline (@natejacobson1) for any picks I make throughout the weekend. Will be back next week for full picks with analysis.
Have two picks in the NFL this week:
Seahawks (+3) over Bengals
Cardinals (-2.5) over Lions
