Conference Tournament Champion Picks

AAC– Louisville: I wasn’t sure if Louisville was a national title contender until this weekend. I thought they might have lacked some depth without Kevin Ware and Chane Behanan. Also I thought a weaker schedule this season in the new conference would hurt them. Now I think they will win the AAC tournament because of Russ Smith and an experienced supporting cast. I have them playing Memphis in the championship game because the tournament is in Memphis. The Tigers will beat Cincinnati is the semifinals and get revenge for two regular losses including one last Thursday.

ACC– Duke: I believe in Louisville because of Russ Smith and believe in Duke this March because of Jabari Parker. I think the freshman will take Duke to the next level this weekend in Greensboro. I have Pittsburgh beating North Carolina in the quarterfinals because the Tar Heels have struggled the last two weeks. Virginia will beat Pittsburgh in the semifinals before losing to Duke Sunday. Basketball Picks: March 6

Didn’t like any games on Wednesday but I have three picks for Thursday:

LSU -1.5 over Vanderbilt

LSU isn’t a great road team but they basically just have to win this game to cover. LSU is still on the bubble of the NCAA tournament and needs to win this game. The Tigers front court led by Johnny O’Bryant and Jordan Mickey should be able to dominate Vanderbilt in this matchup.

Michigan State -4.5 over Iowa

The Spartans have dropped two straight and six of their last ten games. Their most recent loss was a shock defeat to Illinois at home on Saturday. Well coached teams don’t lose three straight games. Tom Izzo will make sure his team is ready to bounce back against an Iowa team who have had trouble beating good teams recently.

Miami +2.5 over San Antonio

The Heat have a great chance to move closer to Indiana in the Eastern Conference standings after the Pacers fell in Charlotte on Wednesday night. The Heat will be focused for this game after losing Tuesday in Houston. I’m very confident with this pick especially since Miami is an underdog.
